With over 30 years’ experience in the field of Electromagnetic Warfare (EW), Mark is Chief for EW within Dstl’s Threat Detection and Countermeasures Group, Platform Systems Division at Dstl Porton Down, responsible for developing Dstl’s capability to deliver survivability solutions and weapon system Electronic Protection Measures advice to MOD across the air and maritime domains from research through to support to operations.  Mark attained a first class honours degree in Electronic Engineering, and subsequently a Master of Engineering qualification leading to becoming a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Engineering Technology.

Having led many programmes aimed at evolving the approach to test & evaluation, Mark is currently leading a significant change programme aimed at extending existing synthetic test & evaluation capabilities towards evaluation at the ‘system of systems’ level for both survivability and weapon systems.  Internationally, Mark is leading the team to deliver coherence towards a truly collaborative system of systems evaluation capability that leverages from existing approaches within the International EW community.  In addition, having supported the NATO Air Capability Group 3 Sub Group 2 MACE activities since 1994, and technically led seven MACE trials, Mark became chairman of the SG2 Planning Committee in 2018 with responsibility for delivering a coherent approach and roadmap for Air survivability activities within NATO SG2.
