Chris has extensive knowledge and experience in maturing and validating electronic and radio techniques for specialist applications of electronic warfare. Most recently, his contributions focus on innovation for broader electronic warfare challenges associated with operating in a contested electromagnetic environment, specifically to identify and mature low maturity ideas and concepts. His career in the technical civil service of the UK Ministry of Defence started in 1991, as a graduate engineer working on the above water electromagnetic signatures of maritime platforms. He has subsequently fulfilled a number of roles including group leadership and departmental chief delivery scientist. He was appointed Fellow of the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl), an executive agency of the UK Ministry of Defence, in 2015.

Chris holds an BSc(Hons) in Electronic Engineering from the University of Kent (1991), an MSc in Signal Processing from the University of Surrey (1994) and a PhD in Simulation Modelling from Cranfield University (2014). He is a Chartered Engineer (1998) and Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (2008).
